Juliene Bartley,CAP1
Operations and Training Manager
Juliene has raised dogs and horses — along with a menagerie of other animals — all of her life. She’s always harbored a deep love of animals, interest in all aspects of their care, and profound desire to find better ways to communicate with them. This drive to understand how animals think led her to pursue a career in animal behavior and training.
Aside from her lifetime of personal experience with her own animals, Juliene has over ten years of professional experience working with dogs — eight of which were earned in a Dog Daycare environment. In addition to working with dogs on an individual basis, Juliene is also well-versed in handling large groups of dogs.
Her training techniques are all based on positive reinforcement; she is certified in the first level of the Competency Assessment Program (CAP) – a program that assesses the ability of clicker trainers — has completed training in safe handling techniques and attended numerous seminars from top trainers regarding canine behavior. She is also certified by the Red Cross in Pet CPR and First Aid.
Juliene shares her life with five dogs — Sasha, Taco, Anubis, Zorra and Capone — and four horses — Maverick, Rico, Gypsy and Kachina – all of which she rescued and rehabilitated.
John Yeandle
Facilities and Overnight Manager/Dog Trainer
John has had a passion for working with animals from a very early age. During his teenage years he worked at a summer camp where he cared for horses and taught horsemanship classes, and he found he enjoyed it so much he decided to make working with animals his career path. In 2002 John started becoming interested in training and animal behavior while working with horses on a friend’s ranch in Mendocino County, and the following year he traded horses for dogs and began a career as a dog trainer at the East Bay SPCA.
In the years since then he’s had a few venue changes, but still continues to love working with and training dogs. John traipses around the world with Ike, an aussie mix who loves to smile, and comes home to Linda, a shy and sweet longhaired cat who graciously allows him use of the bed at night.
Norah Molina
Daycare Attendant
Norah has had a variety of animal experience including completing an Internship with the Oakland zoo, where she worked among the
elephants, as a volunteer Dog walker at the Oakland Shelter, and as an Instructor for classes at a local Pet Superstore. When she isn’t at the beck and call of the dogs in our care, she spends her time working on animation projects and enjoying her two cats
Ike
Canine Peer Counselor
Ike is a sweet and sociable Australian Shepherd-Border Collie mix who came very close to being euthanized at three months of age before John decided to adopt him.
He has a knack for helping socialize puppies, making him a perfect Mentor Dog for the younger set. His favorite way of greeting people is to jump on them and smile, which can take you off guard if you’re not expecting it.
When Ike isn’t smiling at people or at John’s side he’s usually sleeping, which is pretty atypical for the breed, but John doesn’t complain.
Cash – The Dog in Black
Director of Security and Canine Relations
Boy are we lucky! Cash was a rescue dog we acquired from Smiley Dog Rescue. Cash assists with new client temperament evaluations, social interactions, and keeping boarders company overnight. He can often be seen coveting his collection of rubber fruit shaped dog toys and keeping the UPS man honest.
